Tran + Thomas Interior Design Studio is an award-winning, full-service interior design firm based in the Kansas City area. Specializing in commercial and residential design, Tran + Thomas Interior Design Studio is committed to providing excellence and delivering exceptional projects at or below budget. Originally founded in 1982 by Jean Bailey (Jill Tran’s mother), the company was mother/daughter run for 19 years as Jean Bailey Interiors. Jill then purchased the business in 2001, changing the name to Jill Tran Interior Design. In the Spring of 2011, Jill gained business partner Carmen Thomas and Tran + Thomas Interior Design Studio was born.

Jill Tran comes from a long line of successful designers and craftsmen and has been a buyer at the International High Point Furniture and Accessory Market for more than 23 years. Her eye for scale and color have given her wings to create wonderful interiors and beautiful interior products. Her paintings have been commissioned for conference centers and her lamp designs have been sought after by retailers such as Horchow, Roche Bobois and Neiman Marcus (including one piece that was featured on the sitcom Will & Grace). Tran’s interiors have won numerous awards and her articles on design have been published in a multitude of local and national interior design magazines. Tran’s design talents are featured in homes in Seattle, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Annapolis, Beaver Creek, Dallas, and her hometown of Kansas City.

For three years prior to joining  Jill Tran; Carmen Thomas channeled her formidable energy into Florida’s spectacular Amway Center Arena (home of the Orlando Magic), working with architects and consultants to create the interiors for more than 60 suites, 13 hospitality spaces, and a myriad of restaurants, bars and retail venues. She was an obvious choice for leading the design team after contributing her exceptional design talents and concepts on retail, exhibit, hospitality and commercial projects while at the Kansas City area firms of Populous, Gould Evans, Dimensional Innovations, and Winntech. Thomas pursued both interior design and business degrees at Kansas State University, following fine arts studies at the University of Arizona. Her diverse skills, experience and portfolio are supported by a LEED accreditation and numerous design awards and publications.
